As the second part of our research into various foods and drinks that can help keep our creative juices flowing and keep us on top of our game at all times throughout the day, we’ve found (and tried) five more superfoods; make sure to check these out below!

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are packed with high zinc levels, enhancing memory, critical thinking, and general cognition. Pumpkin seeds can also be an excellent anti-depressant – which is also great if you suffer from a touch of imposter syndrome.

We love pumpkin seeds sprinkled over the top of our salad at lunch, adding a little extra crunch to the lettuce. Or, if you’re more of a breakfast smoothie creative, why not try a pumpkin smoothie.

Packed with protein, filled with nutrients, and high in magnesium (a great and natural migraine preventative), a pumpkin seed smoothie can offer it all!

Oh, and pumpkin seeds are also a great snack to keep handy on your desk, helping you to stop reaching for the leftover cakes from Sandra’s birthday!

Fish

In particular, salmon has huge benefits, and if we include fish into our diet at least once per week, we can increase our learning ability two-fold as we absorb more information.

However, we recommend baking your salmon. Not only is baking a lot tastier and healthier it also ensures that the salmon keeps all of its vital vitamins, compared to frying, which can lose around 50%!

For a great meal idea, why not try baked salmon with steamed broccoli and sweet potatoes.

Egg yolk

Yes, an egg-white omelette can reduce cholesterol in your blood, but the egg yolk is just as important. Egg yolks contain choline which is vital in increasing brain speed, supporting memory, and allowing us to process sensory experiences better.

Unlike in the films, we’re not recommended you crack some eggs into a cup and drink them raw…..however, salted egg yolks, cooked and cured and then grated over pasta, salads, or even on avocado on toast are simply delicious!

Greek yoghurt

The calcium in Greek yoghurt is fantastic at boosting well-being and overall feelings of content. It can also speed up your thinking and improve memory – particularly good when you need a boost mid-afternoon.

Add some blueberries into the mix, and you have your perfect bowl of happiness in an instant.

Kale

Growing in popularity, kale is known as a great superfood with many health benefits. The main one is linked to creativity – providing the body with much-needed hydration and transportation of oxygen, both of which are vital for optimal brain function.

Plus, there are so many great recipes you can make with kale! From sprinkling it on top of your salad for lunch, you can make kale chips, and for the ultimate healthy green smoothie – blend kale with pineapple, banana, a hint of honey, Greek yoghurt, and a touch of almond milk, and you have a perfect creative boosting smoothie to keep you going all day.
