Before you get married, it is traditional to have a bachelorette party where you can let your hair down, hang out with your friends, and celebrate the adventure yet to come. You might be the bride herself, keen to organise her own party, or you might be the maid of honour who has been tasked with creating a fabulously fun time for everyone. Either way, there is a lot of organising to do to make it amazing; here are some tips on how to get it right.
The Guest List
The first important job is to put together a guest list. This can be a time-consuming job, especially if the party is supposed to be a surprise for the bride. Everyone needs to enjoy themselves, and the last thing you want is for someone to be missed out when the invitations are sent out, or for someone who the bride hasn’t seen for 20 years to turn up and expect to be the center of attention.
This is where working with more than one person can be helpful. If not the bride herself, then at least speak to her friends and family to determine who definitely needs to be invited.
Have A Theme
If you have a theme for the party, then it will be easier to work out what needs to be purchased and organised. If it is just a general party, it will be much easier to over-spend because you won’t have any particular theme to work towards.
There are so many themes you can use, and there will be props and games you can hire to make the day even more fun. You could have a festival theme or a circus theme with carnival game rentals, or maybe an arts and craft party with lots of fun activities. Maybe your bride loves the 80s, and you theme the party around the decade from fashion to music to food. There are lots of options, but having a theme will help you keep focused and to your budget.
Budget
Regarding your budget, you will need to have one; otherwise, the cost can get out of control. This is particularly important if you are asking for contributions from the other guests, as it wouldn’t be fair to suggest one price and then to ask for more just because your budget has spiralled.
Work out what you want to spend and keep within your means. If it means having to look for savings then don’t be ashamed; saving money is a good thing, and you’ll still be able to have the most incredible party on a budget if you need to.
Keep It Fun
When you are organising a bachelorette party, your main priority is to get it right, but don’t let your need to make it a good party ruin the fun for everyone, especially you. The point of a party is for people to enjoy it and if you have a strict timetable or you’re concerned about looking after everyone else, then the enjoyment factor will be missing and the party will lose its sparkle.
